Every year, Bayless Junior High administration presents a building improvement plan to the Board of Education. It outlines the school's priorities for the year and how it will help students grow. Below is a condensed version covering the key areas staff is focusing on to support every student’s success: Academic Growth, Caring Culture, and Attendance and Belonging
Academic Growth
We Are
- Using i-Ready data to check progress in reading and math
- Providing Power Hour tutoring and small-group support
- Strengthening writing through CERCA and The Writing Revolution
- Holding Student-Led Conferences so students take ownership of their learning.
We Will
- Increase the number of students meeting grade-level goals
- Use data to personalize instruction and boost engagement
- Support teachers with collaboration and professional learning
We Expect to See
- More students meeting or exceeding expectations in reading, math and science
- Students who are more confident and motivated to learn

Caring Culture
We Are
- Teaching empathy and connection through Second Step and daily Mindful Moments.
- Partnering with CHADS, Monarch, and Lutheran Family Services to support student mental health
- Offering clubs, sports and leadership opportunities to build belonging
We Will
- Use student surveys to guide lessons about relationships and empathy
- Recognize students who show strong character and leadership
- Continue building strong relationships across our school community
